I have always been an advocate for steering clear of used golf balls. The reason is that you just don’t know what you’ll get. But that’s not necessarily true if you are buying from a reputable vendor.
Established businesses with consistent grading scales and solid quality control processes can help you get quality golf balls for a discount. Just as important, they’ll help you avoid wasting your money.
We’ve all seen the horror stories from golfers who bought a pack of “mint condition ProV1s” only to find repainted Pinnacle balls, or a mixed bag of ProV1 / ProV1x, waterlogged balls, etc. Don’t let this happen to you! Only go through a reputable vendor.
What you should look for when buying used golf balls
Obviously one of the biggest benefits of buying used golf balls is cost savings, but what else should you consider?
Vendor reputation
Inventory Availability
Satisfaction Guarantee
Fast and low-cost shipping
I would ask myself, does this vendor have a quality rating system in place, and sufficient operational processes to follow it and ensure quality control? You certainly don’t need to go inspect their operations, but reading through reviews from buyers can certainly be a great indicator.
I would also ask myself – if I end up with a bag of junk balls, can I return them? And how much is that going to cost me?
I have put together a list of reputable vendors, whom I’ve made purchases from, and feel they meet all of the criteria above.
Best Place to Buy Used Golf Balls
1 – Two Guys With Balls
Two Guys With Balls is the absolute best place to go for used golf balls. They have a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, fast shipping, low price guarantee, easy to understand grading system, loyalty program, discounts for military and first responders, and they give back to the community!
What more can you ask for? How about a 5-star review on both Google and Facebook.
Golf Ball Rating System
Their grading system is really simple – Eagle, Birdie, and Par.
Eagle balls will be practically brand new, and can be compared to Mint or 5A quality. They will never contain X-out’s, refurbished, or refinished golf balls.
Birdie balls will have light imperfections or small scuffs, and can be compared to Near Mint or 4A quality. They will never contain X-out’s, refurbished, or refinished golf balls.
Par balls will have noticeable scuffs, and can be compared to Good or 3A quality. They may also contain refurbished, refinished, X-out’s, and/or top-tier practice balls.
Rewards Program
Two Guys With Balls offers a solid rewards program, with no expiration of points and no blackouts. You earn points through purchases, sharing a review, and just for signing up! When you place larger orders ($100, $200, or every 10th order) you get additional bonus points. This is all 100% free and you are automatically enrolled when you create an account to make a purchase.
They also have an Eagle Club membership. It is $89, but if you buy a lot of balls it will pay for itself. You’ll get 10% off all balls, always free shipping, and 2x points on all purchases. You’ll also get access to member-only promotions and a free swing analysis with a 15 minute coaching call each year.

2 – Golf Ball Planet
Golf Ball Planet is another trusted name in the used golf balls space. They have been around for over 20 years and get great ratings on Verified Reviews. They offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee and fast shipping. Orders over $89 also get free shipping. Their grading system is simple to understand as well.
Golf Ball Rating System
Mint balls are their highest grade, they are like new and will not include X-out’s or practice balls.
Grade A balls are “near mint” and will have slightly noticeable imperfections and will not include X-out’s or practice balls.
Grade B balls are in good condition, but will include surface blemishes and/or slight scuffs. They may include high grade practice balls and X-out’s.
Grade C balls are “cosmetically challenged” and may look worn and scuffed.
Grade D balls will have major surface blemishes and may even be cut.
Their lower grade balls are primarily for beginners, or practice balls. That being said, it’s almost impossible to find anything below Grade B on their site. You can get some really cheap golf balls if you are willing to go with Grade B.
Rewards Program
Golf Ball Planet does not offer a loyalty rewards program, but they do have a referral program that is very simple to sign up for. But to get cash back from the program, you’ll need to recommend the company to a friend, sharing a unique link that they give you. I am sharing mine below.

Downside to Buying Used Golf Balls
When golf balls are pulled out of a pond, the end-customer has no idea how long they sat in there. Or whether they were in a pond or the woods. Golf balls that do not have any compromise to their cover will typically be just fine.
But, used golf balls that have a little blemish and sit at the bottom of a pond can absolutely get waterlogged. I have weighed several pond balls myself and nearly all of them are “over weight”.
For those reasons, I would only recommend buying used golf balls at the highest grade. You can still get a great price on those higher grade balls!

Final Thoughts
Whether you are shopping for Titleist golf balls, Callaway balls, Bridgestone’s, or whatever ball, you can get huge savings by going through one of these sites. They all offer high quality used balls, sometimes at half the price!
These are the best websites, but my favorite is definitely Two Guys With Balls. I think it is important to find vendors who offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee, fast shipping, and an easy to understand grading system.
Good luck on the golf course!
